Offering Supervision for Colorado and Texas

Supervision is provided to post-graduate clinicians working toward full licensure, as well as mentorship for professionals pursuing AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation.

My approach to supervision is collaborative and strength based. I come from a very strong systemic/relational training process, and it is my premise that if you are working toward becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist you will also be working from a systemic perspective. Goals for supervision should include long-term and short-term goals. Goals should include all areas such as development of the therapist, following legal and ethical guidelines, developing competencies not just in conducting therapy but administration work as well. A part of the supervision process is to help you grow in being self-reflective as a therapist and to understand your influence on the client from a variety of levels. This will be a continual review process throughout your supervision time with me. However, supervision is not intended to be personal therapy, and should this be needed I will suggest you pursue professional counseling. As the roles for a supervisor are many, such as teacher, coach, administrator, I want the supervisor/supervisee relationship to encompass a collaborative structure. With that said, I am also a gatekeeper to the profession of Marriage and Family Therapy and it is my responsibility to ensure that my supervisees follow the legal and ethical guidelines of our profession.
